Car Hire - Any advice given by the owners about where to book car hire is “in our experience”. We make no recommendation as to the conduct or reliability of any person or company in the future. We do not earn any commission from clicking any link on these pages.
Being regular visitors to Florida we have done lots of research into car hire. We have come to the conclusion that Fly Drives are almost always not worth the money. Car Hire is quoted as being free but never is. The insurances required always come out more than if you organise the car hire yourself. Every time we go to our villa we always look for the best deal. Over the last 5 years we have used just one company for our car hire and here are the reasons.
  1. Consistently the cheapest for the car we use most regularly.
  2. They use a reputable company. Up to now all cars have been "Dollar Rent a Car" cars.
  3. Cars have been new or nearly new.
  4. Free additional drivers.
  5. At Orlando International Airport the "Dollar" desk is downstairs below "Baggage Claim" and your car is waiting for you literally 30 yards away in the car park outside. No long bus rides to "off airport" dealers. At Sanford International facilities are similar. The car hire desk is in the airport lobby and cars are even closer outside the terminal building.
